What is there to do in Phoenix, AZ?

Going for a few days, husband is on business the whole time but I want to see the sites! I’m 22, and would really like to see the desert somehow but have no idea about anything AZ. I like wildlife, and really want to see a desert! Cacti, rattle snakes… I’m a total east coast girl and have never seen a desert before, haha sorda like how some people out west have never seen an ocean before! I also like learning the history of places, and shopping (of course, but we are on a VERY tight budget). I’ll probably only buy one good souvenir, is there anything I should look out for in particular? Oh and how should I dress? I’m currently looking out the window here at home and there is snow, I’m assuming I don’t need to dress like I am dressing here, right? We are not renting a car for ourselves so I am on my own with public transportation, any insight on that? Anything like bus tours need to be booked in advance? Ooo are there horseback riding tours in the desert, or anywhere for that matter?

Wow! you actually gave us good info on what you want to do. I’ve been to the snow plenty of times, but I have never seen the snow fall ever in my life.

If you want to do some horse back ridding, check out the stables at South Mountain in South Phoenix. Really nice trails.

Take a drive up to the Boulders in North Scottsdale. You’ll see the cool looking Boulder hills, Desert landscape, and some Southwestern style homes in that area, then have dinner or hit the bars, clubs or art galleries in Old Town Scottsdale.

There’s the Desert Botanical gardens where you can see a lot of the Deserts native plants in one spot.
